The student will be introduced to the most common types of infectious diseases such as Viruses, Bacterium, Protists, and fungi. These catigories and the specific diseases that incorporate them will be discussed in detail.. Also, the transmission, signs/symptoms, treatment, and prevention stratigies will be articulated.

Chapter 25-Non-Infectious Diseases
The learner will be introduced to the many types of non-infectious diseases that are common amoung humans. The names, origins, catagories, signs and symptoms, and treatment protocals will be discussed in detail. Also, each student will be researching a specific non-infectious disease, developing a informational power point, and presenting their findings to rest of their peers.

The Lower Leg and Knee
The learner will be introduced to the anatomical make up of the lower leg and knee. The types of chronic and acute injuries will be discussed in detail, as well as the many types of mechanisms that may predispose an athlete to injury. Finally, the evaluation process and the treatment protocals that are used to treat these injuries will be articulated.

Chapter 19- Medicines and Drugs
The learner will be introduced to the different types of drugs and what they are specifically used for. The learner will be able to describe the broad categories that drugs are classified in, as well as the routes of administration. Finally, the learner will be able to understand the different effects that medicines have on the body and any adverse reactions that can occur if not taken as directed.

Chapter 21-Alcohol
The learner will be introduced to the effects that alcohol consumption can have on the human body. Also, the stages of alcoholism, addiction, and recovery will be explored. Finally, the types of resources and programs that are available to assist with abstaining from alcohol use will be discussed.
